Shuriken is a ninja weapon, also known as ninja star. The name of the weapon reflects its shape. It looks like a star, but there are a few deadly edges on it. This makes it a very lethal weapon. Traditionally, it had different uses if we go back to ninjas. Today, the uses of this weapon are pretty different. In this article, I will tell you a couple of modern and traditional uses of shuriken. Following are those uses: Modern Uses of Shuriken: 1. Role Play Shuriken is more a cosplay weapon today. It is being used by the cos-players for fulfilling their roles. It has become a regular part of their ninja costume. Whenever they play the role of ninjas, they have this weapon in their hands. To complete the costume, this weapon is necessary. Ninjas used it as a regular weapon during wars. Hence today, cos-players tend to hold a few stars in their hands when they get on stage as ninjas. 2. Throwing Game An interesting use of shuriken is throwing sport. Remember the knife throwing and throwing axe games. These are the games that include the use of knives and axes on wooden targets. Similarly, people are using stars for playing these games. The shuriken has the ability to stick into the target. There are edges on the stars that make them stick into the wooden target. So, this makes them great for playing throwing game. Also, this is an interesting activity being done by the people with these ninja stars. Traditional Uses of Shuriken 1. Fighting Weapons Traditionally, these uses of shuriken were not popular. They were used as fighting weapons during wars. Ninjas tended to carry these stars during wars and used them for fighting their enemies. They threw them on their enemies from a distance and caused injuries on their heads and feet. This proved to be an effective self defense weapon for fighting and defeating their enemies. 2. Tactical Weapons Secondly, shuriken was used as a tactical weapon during wars. Ninjas used it for maiming as well. They caused distraction to their enemies. When they faced off with them, the first thing they did was throw shuriken on their heads. This caused the distraction and the enemies were left confused about what was causing those injuries. They were unsure about the weapons hitting them. Also, ninjas embedded shuriken into the ground with an aim to cause injuries to the feet of their enemies who stepped on them.
